As we move deeper into spring, May offers a gentle reminder to pause, reset, and nurture ourselves and our loved ones. With brighter days and a sense of renewal in the air, it’s the perfect time to weave self-care into everyday life—both individually and as a family.
We’re also excited to share that our new sessions begin from the 11th May, creating a welcoming space for you to slow down, reconnect, and prioritise your wellbeing.
Why Self-Care Matters (For Everyone)
Self-care isn’t just a solo practice—it’s something that can be shared, modelled, and nurtured within families. When we take care of ourselves, we show our children, partners, and those around us how to do the same.
Whether you have five minutes or a full afternoon, self-care can be simple, meaningful, and deeply restorative.
The Gentle Power of Nature

Nature is one of the most accessible and powerful tools for self-care—and it’s right on our doorstep, and so accessible to everyone whatever age you are, your background.
The benefits of being outdoors for you and your family:
- Reduce stress and anxiety by calming the nervous system
- Boost mood and energy levels through fresh air and natural light
- Improve sleep quality, especially with regular exposure to daylight
- Encourage mindfulness, helping you feel more present and grounded
- Strengthen family bonds through shared outdoor experiences
Whether it’s a short walk, sitting in the garden, or watching the clouds drift by, nature invites us to slow down and simply be.
Gentle Self-Care Tips for Individuals
- Create a daily pause
Even a few quiet moments with a cup of tea, deep breathing, or soft music can help reset your nervous system. - Engage your senses
Use calming scents, cosy textures, or soothing sounds to bring yourself back to the present moment. - Step outside
Fresh air and natural light can work wonders for your mood and energy levels. - Let go of “perfect”
Self-care doesn’t have to look a certain way—what matters is how it feels to you.
Simple Self-Care Ideas for Families
- Cozy connection time
Set aside time to sit together—reading, chatting, or simply being present without distractions. - Create calming routines
Gentle evening wind-downs or slow weekend mornings can help everyone feel more grounded.
- Shared sensory moments
Light a calming candle, use essential oils, or enjoy a warm blanket together during quiet time. - Talk about feelings openly
Encouraging emotional expression builds trust, resilience, and deeper connection.

Real Words from Our Community – The Buddies Tribe
After starting Baby Buddies & You in Walmersley in January 2026, it became clear just how much parents in our community needed a space for connection, calm, and gentle support. A place where both parent and child feel safe, seen, and supported—and where meaningful connections can grow.
Here’s what one member of our Buddies Tribe shared:
🐣 “After having my daughter, I felt very overwhelmed and struggled with postpartum depression. I was often feeling isolated, completely unsure of myself, second guessing everything I was doing, and questioning whether I was doing anything “right” as a Mum.
Finding Emmy’s ‘Baby Buddies & You’ group was a turning point for my mental health – it gave me a safe, understanding space where I felt heard, supported, and no longer alone in how I was feeling.”

How can I help you?
Here’s how I can help you, as a well-being facilitator and trained aromatherapist. And not forgetting, mum to one teenager!
I keep telling my customers that self-care doesn’t need to be complicated or time-consuming. It’s the small intentional moments—the ones where you choose to slow down, breathe, and be present.
This May, give yourself permission to embrace those moments. And if you’re ready to take that step with others, we’d love to welcome you into our sessions from the 11th.
Your wellbeing matters—always!!!
