February can feel like a quiet in-between month. The new year energy has softened, winter still wraps around us, and for many mums, the days are full of giving — time, care, love, patience — often without much space to receive.
At Empathy Holistics and alongside the Buddies community, February is all about ‘filling your cup up’. Not in loud or unrealistic ways, but gently, honestly, and together.
What Does “Fill Your Cup” Really Mean?
For mums, self-care isn’t always long baths or solo mornings (though they’re lovely when they happen). More often, it looks like:
- Being able to finish a warm drink ☕
- Sitting with other mums who just get it
- Feeling emotionally held, not just holding everyone else
- Giving yourself permission to slow down

Filling your cup means choosing softness where you can, and letting yourself be supported.
Gentle Self-Care Advice for Mums 🤍
Here are a few nurturing reminders for this season:
Lower the bar
You are not failing — you are human. Rest is not laziness. Enough really is enough.
Regulate, don’t push
Gentle walks, deep breaths, calming scents, and cosy spaces help your nervous system far more than forcing productivity.
Seek connection
Motherhood can feel lonely, even when surrounded by people. Being in a room with other mums can be deeply healing.

Let yourself receive
Support, conversation, care — you don’t need to earn these. You already deserve them.
Monday – Mums Meetup
A soft start to the week. Space to chat, connect, and remember you’re not alone in this.
We’re pleased to be receiving Stronger Starts funding from Tesco, which will help support Baby Buddies & You as part of our Monday Meetup at Christ Church, Walmersley — making these gentle, supportive sessions more accessible for mums and babies in our community.

Looking Ahead: March’s Mums Mini Retreat 🌲
As winter begins to soften and spring approaches, we’re creating space for deeper rest and reconnection.
Our Mums Mini Retreat at Dearden Wood this March is an invitation to:
- Step out of survival mode
- Reconnect with yourself beyond the roles you hold
- Rest, breathe, and feel held by nature and community
We’re grateful to be supported by Let’s Make a Difference (Bury VCFA), whose funding helps make these mini retreats possible — allowing us to offer accessible, nurturing spaces for mums to pause, rest, and reconnect.
If February is about topping up your cup, March is about refilling it fully.
